The conceptual work "CHAOS" works with the idea and the experience of chaos as a universal and personally lived contradiction. It’s a multimedial understanding of chaos that does not aim at finding solutions to overcome it. On the contrary, the constant movement, collision, repetition and overlap of sounds, symbols and signs causes the viewers to doubt the value of the rounded, "final" things; such as victory, possession, connection and revolution. In this spatially and audiovisually limited representation of chaos, the achievement of the one and only goal is repeatedly suspended, reminding us that we cannot escape and free ourselves from chaos. We feel that it is not something that we can overcome, nor completely shut down. The work, as an event that we go through, encourages us to reflect on the criteria of our own and collective progress. Will we ever break out of the repeated definitions of success? – we ask ourselves. What is required of us to demonstrate (pro)motion or advancement, stagnation and regression? Chaos simulations begin to act as mirror images of our routines and emotional states, which we think are temporary and want to overcome or improve. Chaos suddenly seems to have a dynamic potential; it is an invisible energy that takes various forms and continues to manifest itself even when in a vacuum. We cannot avoid the chaos, bound and unbound to our living, absolutely present in our every interaction, concern for the Other, and – understanding. Chaos in this sense, here and now, is not a display of disruption of possibilities, but of desired unpredictability and randomness, and an essential condition for breaking out of norms, for creativity and change. Through this project, chaos ceases to be something that needs to be surpassed, and becomes a force worth embracing and understanding.
Meto (b. 1977) is a prominent multimedia artist with over two decades of experience, known for his innovative art projects, interventions and processes that explore the relationship between art and technology. With more than 20 solo and 20 group exhibitions, his oeuvre includes conceptual and interactive works that reflect current global themes and relationships in contemporary art. In addition to formal education in painting and transmedia practices, Angelov is constantly upgrading his knowledge and pushing the limits of what is possible in art with his avant-garde approach. His works are the result of a cumulative process of ideas that address challenges in contemporary art and are a testimony to his dedicated exploration of new forms of visual expression. A significant feature of his work is the ability to engage the audience in interaction with the artwork, responsibly engaging and introducing the audience to be part of the artistic process and creating a multidimensional experience that combines different techniques and styles. By combining different techniques and styles, Angelov creates dynamic and multidimensional artistic experiences, which connect and integrate different elements into a single whole.
